The plan for today was to start the process of getting a car. I found a good looking one on Craigslist and agreed to view it a 4PM. This left me with a bit of time to kill in the morning which I did by catching a bus out to Fisherman's Wharf.
The weather was clear and not too windy and was perfect for a harbour cruise. We had a nice view of the sea lions on the way out.
The cruise travelled along the coast and under the Golden Gate Bridge before returning via Alcatraz.
The car I was viewing was out on Treasure Island which is a man made island out in the bay. I caught a bus over via the Bay Bridge which is a bit of an experience. The bridge has two layers of traffic and is up to 70m above the water. TTeasure Island was a military base up until recently. It's now a weird mix of low income housing, sports fields, and industrial. It didn't feel like the best place to be so I was glad when the seller turned up. The car I was looking at was a 2002 Ford Explorer. It looked good and seemed to run nicely when I took it for a test drive (first time driving on the other side of the road!). I was quite tempted to buy it before Dad showed me a link suggesting that it might just be one of the most unreliable cars out.
Tomorrow's plan is to take a bit of time off to explore Golden Gate Park and some of the museums located there.
